“Love is our deepest longing. Just as the body needs food, the soul needs love – it is nourishment, spiritual nourishment. Without food, air and water the body will deteriorate; without love the soul starts shrinking.” - Osho

LOVE
So many have written about love, yet it seems that we don’t truly understand this complicated emotion. We know that there are different kinds of love - love for a family member, love for a friend, and even love for an object, activity or pastime. And, of course, there is the love one has for a romantic companion, which we refer to as “being in love.”
There are also different types of love. Conditional love is when one loves something or someone only when the conditions (time, health, mood, etc.) are right or “perfect.” For example, some people love their companions until other difficult factors come into play, such as health problems, mental problems, drug habits, or betrayal.
The opposite of conditional love is “unconditional love” – which involves a devoted dedication, no matter what happens. This is what marriage vows are built upon; “through sickness or health, richer or poorer…” Perhaps the world would become a better place if we could all find more unconditional love in our hearts.
One thing the human species needs to understand is that love affects each of us differently. People are constantly trying to define love by using words like happiness, trust, communication and loyalty. However, those things do not define love at all. When you love something or someone, it doesn’t mean that you’re always happy. A couple can lose their trust or communication - but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any love there. Parents may not always trust, communicate well, or be happy with their children - but they love them still.
One thing is for sure, just when we think we have love all figured out, it will throw us a curve-ball. It cannot easily be defined. We all love differently, and therefore it has different lessons for each of us.
